How to I solve Kaplan sat math question?

in quadrilateral abcd above, if cd=6, bc=8, and ab=5, what is the length of ad? (Kaplan practice test 3 number 11, page 201)
A. 4
B. 3 root 5
C. 5 root 3
D. 10
E. 15
My solution was 5/6=x/8 so I got x=6.666666… Therefore the answer should be 3 root 5,BUT the answer is 5root3! Can someone please explain me why? Thank you so much…!

Solving Kaplan questions is not an efficient use of your time. You’d be better off using real college board questions.

You will probably get a faster response if you post an image/link to the question; we cannot solve it as it is, and most of us do not have that book.

Also CHD2013 is right; from what I’ve seen, the quality of Kaplan test problems has generally been quite poor.
