Hello,
I got a 34 composite score on my Feburary ACT with minimal prep (2 practice english subsections)

Here is the breakup:

English 33
Usage/Mechanics 17
Rhetorical Skills 16

Mathematics 35
Pre-Algebra/Elem. Algebra 18
Algebra/Coord. Geometry 16
Plane Geometry/Trig. 18

Reading 34
Social Studies/Sciences 18
Arts/Literature 17

Science 35

I wanna get into HYPMs, UChicago, or Northwestern.
I was wondering would a 34 act be good enough or should I go for the 36.
If I should go on, how can I improve my scores?
Also, what is a good score for writing/ how do I do well on writing? I didn’t take it during February ACT since it was going to be my benchmark. I am taking the writing at tomorrow’s ACT.

Any tips and tricks for bumping my score up a few more points will be really appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

HYPMS don’t care about the scores once you get to the 33+ range. Other things are much more important.
If you do want to improve to 36, though, you can improve your reading score just by pacing yourself (give yourself about 8 minutes per passage, and come back to any questions you don’t get in 8 minutes). Math is all about formulas and concepts, and it is too late to worry about that now. Plus it’s already a 35, so it’s fine. If you have extra time at the end, check your answers to make sure there are no dumb mistakes. Science is a 35, so that’s fine. English I can’t really help too much with, just check over your answers at the end if you have time. On all of them, mark any answer you’re not sure of and come back to it later.
For the essay, just write as much as you possibly can and make sure you consider the opposing point of view, and you’ll do fine.

But, most of all, stop worrying. Tonight, just relax and go to bed early. Tomorrow, eat a healthy breakfast. Bring food and water and eat and drink (not too much!) during the breaks.

Lol I just wanna get ACT over with. I got 7 AP tests coming up that I have to prepare for and SAT II 's. Is there any book or prep class that i can take that will help me improve? Because i havent come across 1.
