Hi, I’m a high school junior taking the Bio and Literature SAT IIs on Jan. 23. I have spent my whole Winter Break (3 weeks) studying prep books throroughly and I have taken practice tests for the last week or so. I took the Bio SAT II once before in my freshman year after regular Bio (studied intensively for 2 weeks) and got a 680. I have not taken AP Bio.

My problem is this: I cannot seem to be able to make the jump from the mid-600s to 700+! (I want to keep my college options open – that’s why I’m not settling for mid-600s.) And on Bio I feel like I should be able to get 750+ since it’s just memorization. My average on both Bio and Lit practice tests is around 640-670.

I don’t know what to do to improve. I’ve tried to memorize everything I can but I can hardly retain everything. I’m also not a natural at Lit, so it’s definitely not easy for me. I’m just so frustrated. (There are no other SAT IIs that I can take because I’m really bad at all the other subjects.)

I am able to retake both tests one more time after Jan. but I really don’t want to! What do I need to do to prepare well to get a 700+ on both tests, given that I’m not a genius and I hardly have any more time? If anyone’s gone through this before, advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks so much!
