<p>I took the diagnostic test awhile ago and scored 500 math, 430 reading, and 380 writing. I have a tutor who works with me on preparation from the princeton review. I will be a junior next year. Just took another one today and will get results back soon. Any advice on how to raise my scores to make myself competitive for Pitt??? I hear for pitt I would need a 600 at least in each category or just a 1800.</p>
<p>It depends on what specific concepts are dragging your score down. Are you hurting in the sentence completions? Passages? Double passages? Identifying Errors? Improving Sentences? Improving Paragraphs? Essay writing? Geometry? Algebra? Arithmetic? Talk to your tutor and have him/her review your tests with you so you two can plot the best plan of attack together.</p>
<p>Also consider if you are pacing yourself through the test properly? Are you rushing and making silly mistakes? Are you trying to finish the Math section (even though the last questions are hardly worth rushing for unless people are above a 700 since they are so difficult)</p>
<p>All of these things your tutor should be able to talk to you about. You have a fantastic opportunity to really target your work so make sure to develop a strong relationship with him/her.</p>
