Does anyone have any idea how I can help my son improve his writing quality for English classes at a top boarding school (Andover, Lawrenceville, Hotchkiss, etc.?) I am looking for some enrichment program to teach him how to write at an elite level. I want him to be able to go and get an A in English his freshman year and hit the ground running.
Personally, I’d avoid over preparing, particularly if these resources teach bad habits that need to be undone. That’s precisely the reason Andover’s first term of 9th grade English is graded P/F. They want the students to learn their way without the added internal (or external) pressure of perfect grades.
I do hope, for his sake, that there isn’t undue external pressure on grades, or someone(s) will be in for a rude awakening when the first term report has a grade other than A

The style of writing and reading is a lot different in boarding schools. There are some courses on CTY that might help.
