Hi, I just took a practice SAT test with no prior studying and I got an 1840 and gave myself a 6 (cumulative) essay score. It was the second blue book examination.
My main problem is vocabulary. I am seeing words I have never before seen in my life. Is there a good route to learn a lot of important vocab words?
Also, how easy is it to get a 10 on the essay? I took AP English Lang and I got a 4 on the exam, so I am not completely hopeless in that regard. If I get a 10 on the essay, it will boost my score by 70 points.
My math is okay. I just make a lot of stupid mistakes.
Please don’t tell me I should have studied 2 months before. I understand that and I made a big mistake. I am trying to reconcile that mistake now.
Give up on the vocabulary. You will not memorize the hundreds of potential words that could appear on the SAT in 2 days. Focus on developing a structure and example that you will use on your essay, so that you have options when you receive your prompt. A 10 is not easy, but it is possible. Memorize important formulas for math, particularly those pertinent to Geometry. Get a good night’s sleep and take the test with clarity. If you do not do well, realize your mistakes and start preparing for the January test date immediately. Good luck!
Forget about memorizing vocab. Instead, study some root words. That way you’ll be able to at least infer/decode each word and it’s meaning for some of them.
