So in this small class of about 15, each of us has to “lead” once a month. What kind of activities would interest college students and keep them busy? Material to be covered is literature. What do you think?

PS. Active discussion MUST be stirred.

Well… literature is a REALLY big topic so you’re going to have to be more specific… both about what you’re trying to accomplish and what sort of literature you’re reading.

Lemme use an example: If you’re reading about dystopian societies obviously you might read 1984, or Brave New World and you can have a discussion on the two of them. In my AP class in high school that was more or less what we did, a “destroyed them with what they love vs what they hate” discussion.

If you’re doing Greek/Roman mythtype you might decide to read The Odyssey and compare the hero to the hero in Oedipus Rex. So yeah… come back with something a bit more descriptive and we can help you.

The Odyssey by Homer.

I mean discussion points are cool, but are there any interactive ways to present those ideas?

Thanks!

You might have to be creative but I’m sure there’s a way to combine the Greek gods into something interactive. Maybe a discussion on the Hero archtype and how Odysseus meets or doesn’t meet that archtype like I mentioned above.

Any activities you could recommend?

We read a Seinfeld script that was well received. Will and Grace scripts are fun too. This was in the context of a short story and dramatic literature class.

How can I relate this to the Odyssey?
