So there’s this huge mirror (maybe 4 to 5 feet on each side) on top of my dresser (three feet off the ground). It’s really heavy, and when I tried to move it before I had to press really hard to keep it from falling on top of me. How do I get it off my dresser without dropping it or enlisting the help of another person? Right now it’s propped up against the wall, but if I moved it like an inch it’d be in danger of falling.

I know it seems like a strange question, but I really can’t ask anyone to help me with this job. And there’s no way I could possibly carry it myself.

Sorry, but you’d better ask someone to help you unless you want to risk having a gazillion shards of mirror imbedded in your skin or on your floor. That is a big mirror you are dealing with.

Actually, the problem isn’t so much that I can’t ask anyone for help as I can’t ask anyone from my family for help. What do you think of Craigslist? How much would such a service be worth, monetarily?

Well, if you’re trying to get it onto the floor, the real problem seems like the desk. If there was no desk it would be on the floor, so get rid of the desk. Or you could cut up the mirror into little pieces for easy moving

^Yeah, that’s true. The other problem is it’s upright right now, so every time I try to move it it starts falling on me. If it was flat on the dresser I could just move it onto progressively lower surfaces or use a ramp.

You could always lay it flat (face down) on the dresser and then pull it a little bit away from the wall and then angle it toward the floor and slowly let it down? It’s not that easy to put in words.

thanks for the help guys. i worked things out with my family, so the mirror’s out in the hallway now. it was actually really easy once i asked people for help. :)
