Hey, asking for advice. I have attended both the Iowa Young Writers Workshop and the Adroit Mentorship, which I think are prestigious enough to list in the Common App? The thing is, with just ten spots open for activities, I have ten other things that I’ve done long term that seem more important to list than two/three week summer programs . . . yet I still would like to mention these somehow. Would it be weird to put them under awards–like, it’s kind of an award to get accepted since they don’t take many people? Maybe not, just wondering if I should/can fit them in. Thanks!
They don’t belong in awards/honors.
Obviously I don’t know anything else about your app, intended major, or activities list. Can you combine activities? For example one could combine cross country and track teams. Or combine honor society memberships like NHS, Spanish HS, Science NHS, etc. You could combine Adroit mentorship and Iowa Writer’s workshop too.
If combining activities isn’t an option, you can use the additional information section and write a paragraph about each. Good luck.
That’s so helpful, thank you! I didn’t think about combining things, and I could absolutely combine these two writing workshops as one entry and get creative to make space for it. Thanks!
