I’m a 1st year, political science major (IR).

For the 1st and 2nd quarters, my GPA (GE and major) averaged 3.68. But this last quarter, I only got a 3.14 (A, B, B+, C+). My overall GPA is only 3.45 now.

This quarter felt easy in the beginning, but it just hit me in the face.

What can I do about the C+? Someone told me I can retake it and replace it with a better grade, but I thought you have to fail a class to retake it?

Was it a bull **** class like warren writing? if it was, dont even worry about it. even c’s in major classes arent that bad, the important thing is progress and improvement

not the end of the world, your GPA is still good, figure out what caused you to get that C+ and try to change it for next quarter.

You can retake it if you’d like but the new grade will not affect your GPA and it won’t matter to grad schools/employers. Only classes with failing grades can be retaken and affect your GPA.

I suggest you take a class that is one step above it and kick some ass, thats what I did for my terrible O Chem grades. Show perseverance and improvement at the same time.

Suck it up, a C+ your first year really won’t mean jack. You have 3 years to bring your GPA back up from that life ruining 3.45. Relax, a C+ is not the end of the world.
