Am attending five different community colleges in California this Fall (online) as they only have the classes I need. Don’t really have support from parents, and am taking far too many units (schedule is full almost to the minute) to fit in a part time job.
In total, it should cost me in the middle of 6,000-10,000… (textbooks + tuition). Already covered for everything else. Any advice here would be greatly appreciated. Currently 20… and perhaps looking for a loan as a last resort… if I can even qualify for it.
Have you filed FAFSA? What is your EFC?
I haven’t filled one out yet. Looking it up, it seems like the deadline passed a long while back. Yikes.
Are you a matriculated student at one of the CCs? That’s the one to which you should submit the FAFSA. The deadline has not passed.
You can get the unsubsidized Stafford at the minimum ($5,500) if you’re a matriculated student. I don’t really understand the situation with 5 different community colleges though but there are some circumstances a non-matriculated student can use federal loans.

@ucbalumnus No. Just one class from each one of the colleges that aren’t offered at mine. I’m an out-of-state student. That post was a thought experiment.
