How to practice Passage Based Questions?

The weakest part of my SAT is my verbal section. Collegeboard’s practice test told me my vocabulary was good but I wasn’t to great at the passage-based section.

What’s the most effective way to practice the reading based questions? Thanks (I need this for the March 10th SAT). :)

Make sure to read the passage carefully…the trick to the passage-reading section is to understand what is being said.

Either read the questions first then the passage or vice versa. If you can understand the author’s purpose of writing the passage and his tone, it will help you steer clear of a lot of easy mistakes.

Make sure you know the main idea of the passage. Then, answer EVERY question with the main idea in mind. You’ll be able to eliminate a lot of wrong answers.

Thanks a lots everyone. I also just bought Barron’s 2400 Guide to the SAT so that should help some too. Good advice.

Yeah, Barron’s 2400 is a really good book. If you’ve got the cash, check out the Kaplan 2400 book when you finish Barron’s.

I’m pretty sure you already know this, but I tend to read the questions first, and then read the passages.
