How to Prepare for AP Psychology in 2 weeks?

Ok, so here is a little background about me. I go to a public school that is on the quarter system. So i had psychology from Sept. 2009- Jan. 2010.

now my question is if i have all my Notes along with Cliffnotes Ap psychology prepbook(which my teacher highly recommends), how do i study for the next two weeks for the test if my goal is a modest 3?

this reason i ask is that i have really low self confidence and i think that im going to fail every ap test i take.

Yeah, with Cliffnotes, you can get a 3.

But with Barrons, you can get a 5.

Just read Barrons and take practice tests and go over it.

I read (with a lot of intermittent breaks) and took a practice test and ended up with a four, that’s with barely focusing. Now I plan on going over ever inch of that test and retaking another one, rinse and repeat. Trust me, AP psychology isn’t hard as you think it is but don’t underestimate it.

Im averaging a 50 Raw on the MC and about 1/3 right on the FRQ does that equate to a 3?

With just two weeks to go I would take a look at AP Psychology Crash Course. It is actually a very good book. Definitely superior to Cliffs and in some respects better than Barrons. For example, Crash Course had a very handy chapter summarizing the contributions of all the key psychologists specifically mentioned in the College Board Course Description.

I’d suggest that since you already have prior knowledge of AP Psychology from your course-- go straight to reviewing the information with AP Barron’s flashcards! I have the AP Barron’s book which I outlined and highlighted but nothing is better than refreshing my memory through the use of the flashcards.

I am performing self-study. Good luck!

you guys i cant buy anything else my parents have already bought a lot of prepbooks but like i said does a 50 Raw on the MC and about 1/3 right on the FRQ does that equate to a 3?

Yes, on the Barron’s chart, it is.

^^^^ how close is it to a 4?

can you type up the scoring or will that take too much time?

53-71 = 3 For the total score… You are like around 61ish

But
93-150=5
72-92=4
34-52=2
0-33=1

Section I = #correct - #wrong * .25= Sec1score
Section II = Essay1 (out of 9) x 2.78 = E1
Essay2 (out of 9) x 2.78 = E2
E1 + E2 = Sec2score

Sec1score + sec2score = Total (round)

These aren’t exactly the curves… but they should approximate…

thank you very much

I’m taking psych too…and a lot of my friends took it last year…they all told me to go for priceton review. One girl told me that’s all she read the night before and she got a five. I’ve also heard it’s a test that mainly tests vocabulary b/c that’s all pysch is essentially…so flashcards would be good…don’t forget to study all your psychologists too! The main thing to remember is that this is one of those APs people consider blow-off so I wouldn’t stress out for psych as much as for physics or chem.

i used the barrons book for psych last year, i studied for like 3 days and got a 5
its very easy

you guys, i understand that barron’s i good but i cant purchase it.

How is the cliffnotes Ap psych that i have with me? will it get me a 3?

How hard is it to get a 5 on AP Psych exam?
What stuff do I need to concentrate on (if any)?

aquamarina: from what people are telling me. they are saying the thing you have to concentrate most on is the MC because it is worth 67% of your total grade. So hypothetically you could get a 93+/100 (which will be very very on the MC and not even do the 2 FRQ’s and still get a 5. im just saying focus on MC

I thought they did it by percentage points?

For example, 50% of your grade is MC and the other 50% is FRQ based.

I could be completely wrong though. Does anyone want to correct me?

^ For Psych, MC counts for 2/3rds and FRQ is 1/3rds of the final composite score [out of 150 i think]

I don’t get the argument that you can’t buy the prep books. Why not just borrow them from the library?

Or, pay with your own money. That difference between a 3 and a 4 could save you thousands

soulreaver: here’s my argument i got the cliffnotes Ap psych for like $8 which is really cheap my parents will not be convinced if i tell them to buy me another prepbook. they’ll just say “isnt the one you have good enough?”

all i wanna know is that if cliffnotes good enough to get me a 3? the colleges i wanna go to accept 3,4, and 5 in lieu of the intro psych class
