I’m confident in my essays and analysis, but I’m just nervous about how to prepare for the multiple choice section of the exam. How do you prepare for that? Would an AP Lang book’s reading analsysi help at all? I’m just getting a bit nervous, especially because I’m a junior and I don’t want to get a 2 or 3 on this exam!

I can tell you just by … (sorry) common sense, that AP Lang will not help you in AP Spanish…

They are two different languages! (and if you’re talking about STYLE, the AP Lang is treated as a foreign language I believe, so the analysis should still be different), of course, I have taken neither so I’m not really one to say.

Sorry, by “AP Lang” I was referring to AP Spanish Language rather than AP English Language, thinking it was implied by the context.

If you are talking the Spanish Literature exam your Junior year, then you should obviously have a command of the language. Besides reading the required reading list and having an extensive knowledge of them, you might want to consider looking over the short reading passage sections of the AP Language Exam to improve your familiarity and performance with those sections. By taking the AP Literature exam, in order to do well you should be on your way to becoming fluent in Spanish, and should be conversant to achieve a 4 or a 5. The essays are graded by native speaking standards and your syntax should reflect no Anglo-isms (the same syntax found in English sentence structure) but Spanish syntax. Also, a big thing that students forget to do on the AP Literature exam is to use proper transitions and idiomatic phrases in their writing.

For example you wouldn’t say… The dog is blue. The dog can be yellow. You would say, The dog is blue, however sometimes it can be yellow. Don’t forget transitions and common English essay skills on the exam. Also be aware with general Spanish formatting rules. When quoting something, << is used >> not " quotations". Having a general knowledge of these sorts of things will certainly help you when it comes to exam time.
