I heard Gruber’s math prepbook is good, but any advice on how to prep for math? I am a strong math student (took AP Calc AB, BC, and Stats) but I only got a 730 on the SAT :/

I did AP Calc BC (5) junior year and got a 720 ROFL. Also had 132 AMC 12… I"m going to retake because I had 80M PSAT

Here are a few suggestions:

(1) Start focusing primarily on Level 4 and 5 questions. Don’t completely neglect Level 1, 2 and 3 questions, but Level 4 and 5 should be your primary focus.
(2) Make sure you’re applying effective SAT specific strategies. If you haven’t been using the appropriate strategies effectively, then you are hurting your score. This is especially true on harder questions. You may be tempted to solve these hard questions algebraically, but often you will be tricked - even the absolute best students get tricked by level 5 questions. Don’t do these problems as you would in school - use SAT specific strategies!
(3) Try solving problems in several different ways and then think about which method you would actually use if you got this question on the actual test.
(4) After doing difficult problems try to understand why each method your using is working. Getting problems correct is not good enough to get an 800. You need to have a deeper understanding of the underlying mathematics.

Best of luck!
