how to prevent my Spring 2015 graduation from getting delayed?

I am scheduled to graduate this Spring 2015 and my graduation application was approved. The tricky thing is that I am taking two courses at ACC this semester and need to transfer those courses in order to have my degree plan completed. My advisor and I sent a petition last semester to allow us to do this, stating which ACC courses I was going to take and it got approved. Then, when filling out my 2015 Spring graduation application, I selected the option stating that I am simultaneously taking coursework at another institution and told them again which courses I was taking and that I am going to transfer it immediately when grades are posted. I just got a response stating my Spring 2015 graduation has been approved and that I am scheduled to graduate on Spring 2015, however, the following message was attached:

“Decision Notes:
Approved as a May 2015 graduation candidate contingent upon receipt of transfer coursework. We suggest having this on your record by May 15, 2015, or graduation may be delayed.”

The last official class day for ACC Spring 2015 is May 17th. My last actual class day there is May 14th though who knows when grades will be in.

I contacted my advisor asking about this and she told me “contact ACC to see when grades are in and then wait until then to send my transcript immediately and see if that works.” I can’t just guess and check and hope my graduation doesn’t get delayed…

It is my advisor’s second time advising and she is clueless and will not give me any more help. Other than my advisor, who can I go to and talk to about this? Thank you.

Your advisor has honestly given you the best answer she can. Most colleges have a separate Deans Office that handles graduation certification and they will be the ones who can give you exact timelines to have the course work in by. Advisors unfortunately don’t have anything to do with it except in a handful of majors

The worst thing that could happen is that the grades don’t clear in time and you graduate after summer session one. Plenty of people walk during spring graduation but actually graduate in the summer. Don’t fret.

Thank you both. @txex86 could you please elaborate on this? Does this mean that I should not have any concerns about making the arrangements to attend the graduation ceremony and be part of it, still doing everything I would have done anyway? I am not familiar with how graduation works lol…
