How to recover from senioritis?

I ask this in the parents section because I thought that older, wiser people would have better advice. Ever since I got into college I’ve had a major case of senioritis. I’m passing all my classes and everything but I’m just extremely lazy these days. I spend all my times hanging out with friends or reading something to compensate for all the lost opportunities during the past 3.5 years.

I’m extremely afraid however that this laziness will carry on through college. I really don’t want it to.

What tips or advice can you offer for a kid who is ready to bounce back from senioritis and succeed in college? Did any of your children go through this?

Thank you everyone :)

I think MOST kids go through this. The excitement of being IN college, followed closely by the intensity, compared to high school, of their college classes, usually snaps them out of it pretty quick.

Stay away from Mary Jane and ethanol, and you will be O.K.

Keep busy with other things…sports, outdoor activities. Try to keep your grades up, colleges need your last semester transcripts, so you don’t want them to see that you went downhill your final semester of high school.

My son just got home from his first year in college, and I have a senior son who has senioritis, so I know what it’s like. (And it’s perfectly normal!)

Once you get to college, you will be surprised at how challenging it can be and if you’re responsible, you’ll settle into it and get back to the study mindset.

Good luck!
