I am eagerly willing to apply for SAT but my problem is that when I try to sign up it requires me to enter a surname which unfortunately, I don’t have. How can I apply for it without surname?

You don’t have a last name?

lol

i have even send them(college board) a message requesting how to proceed in this kind of situation but till now they have not answered my message.

I can only advise trying to contact the College Board again. Call them up maybe.

@jencee thnx for ur advice

Where are you from?

india

Good luck. I’ve never before heard of such a dilemma. Keep trying to reach the CB, but I’d suggest calling their Florida number. Parents and kids seem to have the most luck with that one.

Try calling College Board.

Thats impossible! I am indian and I have a surname. I have never heard of anyone without a surname, especially in India. What part are you from? You have to have some sort of ancestry or something! If anything you may add ‘bhai’ or ‘ben’ after your name, but you have to have a surname. Thats impossible not to.

@PeterAP Actually the problem is that while registering, the given name should match with the name given in your passport. But there is no surname in my passport.Although i have second name but that is not my surname.

Hey man, you must be from South India. One of my friend from south does not have a last name either. What is name written in your documents? You can write that.

For e.g suppose someone has a name Arvind Raj (ITS NOT MY NAME). Then can he fill up like this…
First Name: ARVIND
Middle Name :
Surname : RAJ

He has no surname in his Indian passport.

Indian passport will be used as ID proof during SAT examination.

His name in passport is

given name : ARVIND RAJ

His father’s surname is SINHA.

Theres an option called FNU (First name used).
One of my friends doesnt have a surname either, but she doesnt have a surname on her passport either, so if you dont have a surname on your passport you should fill in FNU in the “Last Name” section, otherwise write whichever surname is on your passport

Write whatever is written in your passport. There is no way that you only have one word as your name in passport. There must be a space separating first and last name.

For Example

ARVIND- first name

SINHA- father’s name is used as middle name in India

RAJ- last/surname

@PeterAP it is possible that OP has just a first name. It isnt unusual at all. People dont have real last names in countries like Bhutan, and there are always cases of people without an actual last name in other places as well. People use FNU in such scenarios.
