Obviously when schools eventually receive my official transcript they can choose to compute it however they like. But I have retaken one class and my schools policy is to keep both grades on the transcript but only compute the later/higher grade into my GPA. Thus, when self reporting my GPA should I put the 3.81 that is on my transcript, or the 3.6 that it actually is.
Unless there is some policy that tells you exactly how this college wants you to report your grades, I would put the 3.81… They’ll still recalculate it their own way, and it will just look like you followed what you saw on your transcript. No harm, no foul.
Go with what is on your transcript. When college’s ask for it, they want the actual number on the transcript. If they want to recalculate it to the 3.6 they will.
