How to report student income on CSS Profile?

I have a part time job and I don’t work that much. I’ve earned around like $4000 this year. But income tax is automatically deducted from my pay before it reaches my bank account. I’m confused on how I should fill out the information on the CSS Profile? I don’t know exactly how much I earned or exactly how much taxes I paid? I can probably just add up every payment coming in on my bank account to figure out how much I earned, but I’m not sure how I can figure out the taxes part. Has anyone done this before and can give me some advice.

Is the question what you are earning right now or what you have earned in a prior period (usually the prior tax year)? Usually the question is about a period for which there is documentation, like 2022 income, documented by a W2 or other tax documents.

Your employer will issue a W2 for you in January for whatever you have earned in 2023. It will have the total earned, the amount withheld in taxes, etc. You won’t have to go back and add it all up. If you need it right now, look at your last paystub and it should be there, year to date.

Isn’t income reported for prior prior year? IOW, income from 2022 is used for the 2024-2025 financial aid forms.

Does the Profile also ask for your 2023 income? If so…you should have year to date income ON your most recent pay stub. Look there.
