<p>Okay, this is not a relationship thread. LOL. :)… </p>
<p>As many of the wonderful parents know, I’ve decided to continue on in my struggle to get in Georgetown…</p>
<p>What else can I do? I am planning to write an update letter/essay describing my affairs in the World Affairs Council… I also have a few… well, “memorabilia” I’d like for the adcoms to see… here’s just a few… </p>
Mr. Ben Veniste SURE loves to write, doesn’t he. Har har har. :)</p>
<p>I also have lots of pictures, which… I’ll link in a minute… Is there any way I can connect this material?</p>
<p>What should I do? How do I tell Georgetown I still have a longing to get in, and that the deferral has only strengthened my determination to get in? LOL. It’s a bit late…</p>
<p>Oh please please don’t send those things! They are incredible pieces of memorabilia, but that is just too much for an admissions committee - they don’t really say anything about you. This is simply my opinion, ask the parents they are much more knowledgable.</p>
<p>LOL. Any parent opinions? (Obviously, I’m not going to send every one, but I’m trying to strengthen my stance as a candidate for the SFS program… so I have to show my depth in Int’l Affairs…)</p>
<p>Tlaktan, i say this with affection and respect:
You need to move on.</p>
<p>Write a letter to your regional rep with a quick summary of anything new in your life (higher scores, first semester grades which raised your gpa, new awards, increased responsibility at work…); reiterate the reason for your passion for G’town, and then get going falling in love with a bunch of your other schools. The photos do nothing to strenghten your case, and in fact, may hurt it. However, I’m more concerned with the fact that in the last week you don’t seem to have moved to the next phase, which is getting excited about the possibility of attending another fine school.</p>
<p>Please, please-- find a way to put G’town on the back-burner emotionally once you’ve dealt with the housekeeping of the update letter.</p>
<p>I second Blossom’s post. You should write a letter expressing continued interest. When–if–you have further news to impart, such as new grades, more awards, and so forth, write another one. </p>
<p>Right now, though, you should focus on your applications to other schools. There are only ten days left to do all you need to do. Gtown is a great school, but it is not the only one where you can be happy and learn what you want and need to learn to be successful in your chosen path.</p>
<p>I think Columbia, as an example, asks for students to not make their applications ‘scrapbooks’. If you include those things, this might happen. I second those who say send a nice letter and keep them abreast of new activities, etc.</p>
<p>Oh, ok. I’ve received the suggestion to send them, but it seems the vote here is unanimous.</p>
<p>And don’t worry parents of CC: I’m not just focusing on Georgetown. During my deferral-recovery period, I’ve applied to Vanderbilt, Tufts, Brown, Princeton (lol), GWU, and a few other universities that I have catalogued somewhere else. I’m getting the Secondary School Reports completed now, and having the teacher recs sent ASAP. </p>
<p>I went through about… 100 pages of SSRs, Teacher Rec forms, and other stuff, filling out my name, SSN, and stuff like that… Don’t worry folks, I got my work cut out for me between now and … umm… December 31st. :)</p>
<p>Thanks a lot for your support though, really appreciate it. Some people have said send stuff involving the Council, but I’ll take your advice and just send a letter expressing further interest. </p>

<p>And if you’re worried about me getting the forms in time – I have a very close relationship with my counselor and my teachers. They said if I need anything like recs, I can get a hold of them during the holiday break. Soo… :)… Also, I think I’m starting to like Notre Dame a little… still keeping spirits high though, but the prospects of being a Domer '09 is really intriguing… :)</p>
<p>Tufts and GW are commonly cross listed with Georgetown, and I think you would be great at either. Though the images you showed may not be the best to send to a college, they are incredibly impressive and I believe you will come across as a great candidate with a true passion.</p>
<p>Tlaktan, I’m glad that you can move on and are able to realize all of the wonderful prospects that await you. Just don’t forget about Georgetown! :p</p>
<p>I understand tlaktan completely, most likely because we’re in the same deferral boat. It’s really hard for me to move on and accept that I’m not hearing from Georgetown again until April 1st. </p>
<p>But Dartmouth became ridiculously appealing to me as soon as I was deferred, so I don’t know…Big Green? We’ll see…:)</p>
