Hello all:
So this question may seem a bit absurd, but…
My essay is about my love of history and political science and how they are important to me. I am applying to several colleges, one of which calls the study of politics “Government”, two of which call it “Politics”, and the others call it “Political Science”. In my essay, when I refer to the study of politics, what should I call it? I don’t want to sound like I haven’t researched each college.

I believe “Political Science” is the most popular term.

Bear in mind that like many students, you might change your mind at some point while you are working on your degree. So I counsel you to choose schools that are strong in multiple disciplines.

Political Science is the study, basically, of liberalism vs. Totalitarianism. Economic systems are a different animal even though there are some well known associations:

A) Democracy and free enterprise (both based on liberty).

B) Communism/totalitarianism and socialism (based on gov’t control)
