Help. H rushed out to take S to scouts and has no cash or cards with him. I rushed home late from work and didn’t realize car was almost out of gas. (Other car in shop, so we are making do this week.) Doesn’t help that I lost H’s credit card last week and the replacement hasn’t come yet…
Any way to get money to him across town? He is near a Kroger, if that helps. I am stuck at home.
Probably need to know this for the future, even if it doesn’t help us out tonight.
I have my D coming home soon, so I can take her car and meet him. I just was trying to get more immediate resolution. (Seeing as how I am the reason he doesn’t have his credit card with him, plus I drove his car today and didn’t notice it was out of gas.)
Okay, so it turns out my H was so irritated with me, he didn’t bother to notice that he had $30 cash in his wallet…now I am a bit peeved with him, and frustrated with myself that I didn’t question him about cash.
I would suggest Apple or Android pay install on phones for future situations. Also, I think it’s risky to only have one credit card, for just the reason you mentioned…a lost card can mean having no card. Plus have a debit card.
My son keeps a $50 bill hidden in his car for emergencies.
It’s not just lost cards that can be the problem. It’s also security problems with a card. Last year, somebody got ahold of the credit card number on an account that my husband and I share and put some large charges on it. The credit card company noticed the problem, called my husband to see if the charges were legit, and then canceled the card and canceled the phony charges. But this left us without that credit card account for three days until the new card arrived.
I have a second card. My husband doesn’t. My life was considerably easier than his for those three days.
I have only one card to keep my life simpler. I can always use the debit card in a short emergency. An occasional emergency doesn’t justify keeping another card in my case. Those emergency are not often and they are brief.
A lot of stores are rolling out their own phone payment apps. Walmart, Exxon Mobil, Chick-Fil-A…if you have stores you go to frequently these might be worth setting up. My D loses EVERYTHING (glasses, license, purse…) but somehow manages to keep her phone. So this is how she pays for things now.
