yea i was wondering if umich.edu email lets you automatically forward any email to another email address so you dont have to check two mailboxes

Go to the umich gateway (umich.edu). In the search box, put your uniqname in and search (make sure you are searching the directory). Your entry should come up. Go to the top right corner and click bind, it’ll prompt you for your uniqname and password. Once you enter that it’ll take you back to your entry. Then go to the top right and click modify. About halfway down the page is a place where you can enter forwarding email addresses. Make sure you click save changes. Enjoy gmail.

A handy tip i’ve found it to make a label called UMail or UMich or whatever in Gmail and have it automatically label any emails to a @umich.edu address with that label. Enjoy!

thanks a lot guys…

and just so i dont start a whole new thread for this…

do dorm rooms supply a ethernet cable or do we need to bring one?

You’ll need to bring one.

-GF

And for the love of god…don’t just buy your ethernet cables from Best Buy or some place like that, they have ridiculously high mark-up. Even with the standard 2-3 day shipping costs, the cost of an ethernet cable from http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=105&cp_id=10232&style= is about a third of the price of a similar cable from Best Buy.

my father is in telecommunications. i have tons of em around the house haha

D wondered if this could be done and I searched on CC for her and it worked!

I thought it would be helpful to other new students to bump this thread.
