How to show your love for Wharton

I heard from many people that Wharton wants people who WANTS to be there, but how can you show that you truely is in love with Wharton?
And in the “Why Penn” essay, what do people write or some suggestions?

I know you’re gonna hate this, but showing how much you want to go there has to do in part with how much effort you put into your application. The more research you can show you did (ie professor’s names… number of times visited… locations on Penn’s campus…) the more obvious it is that you are dedicated. More than the button, more than “hanging out at commons,” more than the battling tampons… etc.

The more optional stuff you do the more you show them you’re serious.

Heh nice try getting info. for your Why Penn essay ;).

I live in Boston and it’s very inconvient to travel there for jsut one day, is there a place where you can possibly stay overnight or something

There are hundreds of hotels in Philly. I’d start there.

or you can make friends with a nice student who would house you

Don’t look at me. My single is the smallest one in the quad. I can barely fit four friends in here standing up.

Write a song about how much you love Wharton.

Would that really help? Has anyone got into Wharton becasue they wrote a song?

There may not even be the why Penn essay for the class of 2011 because Penn is moving to the common app. It may be a supplement question though.

Wow, I can’t believe you took what ihateCA said seriously!

u could mail them ur app and slip a couple dozen nice, big fifties in there…

lol… but honestly… i mean what makes it unique… reciting a bunch of profs names doesnt necessarily show why you want wharton… i dunno… good question… good thing i have all summer to ponder it… lol

you want wharton to love u, the best way to do it is: play hard to get.

don’t visit them, don’t send them the required materials, and definetly do not send the application fee.
you will be the only applicant to do that, wharton will think u’re special, they will offer you admission; say NO!, they will give u a full ride, you accept it. And u will attend ur dream school (wharton) without having to pay for it.
life is good!!

yeah, I’ll probably receive nothing but a piece of rejection paper.

If you followed that advice, you probably won’t even receive a rejection letter because they wouldn’t know your address :)

Seriously, you can show interest by visiting, researching etc. You should make a list of why you want to attend Penn/Wharton and articulate those feelings in your essay. But remember, being creative doesn’t hurt.

I have been on Wharton’s website about 20 times a day and reading over EVERYTHING, and printed out HUNDREDS of papers about Wharton. I also researched so often about Wharton that I feel like addicted to it. I think I’m about to enter a psychological hospital if i keep it up.

Relax man. Good things happen when you relax. Don’t get stressed because remember you have the summer to get everything done.

Hey, WhiteBunny, give Babson a chance! Maybe you’ll like it and you won’t need to transfer. At least spend one year at the college before you even think about transferring.

Why did you apply to Babson if you hate it so much?

guys i dont want to scare you, but i was a wharton addict myself, and i was deferred. i went all the way from turkey to philly just to talk with an admissions officer, i wrote an extra essay, i had great grades, i started new campaigns in school, i had an internship a new one during the time between the early and teh regulars. and guess what???
I GOT REJECTED…
well, i am going to stern so its no big deal. just know that theres a huge chance that you will get rejected
