How to start preparing for the SAT

For the last 6 or so months, I have only been concerned with the ACT. As such, I have gotten used to its questions, studied for it, and only focused on the ACT.

However, having taken 2 ACT’s (and not getting as high as I would have liked), I decided that the switch to the SAT is the right choice. I have a deep hatred of ACT Science, and have consistently gotten over a 33 on ACT Math, Reading, and English. As such, I figured that the SAT would be much better suited to my skill set.

My question is how I can start preparing for the SAT? What books should I get, where should I get practice tests, all that. I have no idea how I will do, but I feel that without a science section, I really could do well.

Practice tests=blue book. College Confidential is an excellent resource. Look at silverturtle’s, xiggi’s, and cheerioswithmilk’s guide. Get 500 essential words+grubers (math)+barrons writing workbook. I heard rocket review is good too. College Board has free practice tests and sample questions on their website.

All you need is the Essential 500 Words. It gives you the most frequently occurring words on the SAT, and not just a million arcane combinations of the English alphabet to memorize. Moreover, it also has some chapters on how to do well on the critical reading sections as well, and there are exercises and practice questions in the back.

This was the only book I used to prepare for SAT Critical Reading, and I got a 770 on that part when I took the SAT.

question, the rocket review thing is for 2005-2007, is there a current one?

and can you put full name of the book you used please
