How to stop a blister from forming?

I had a really bad blister form from wearing a strapless bra for 2 days. I was on a business trip and forgot my regular bra. I was pretty comfy all day, but after the 2nd evening a huge oblong bluster formed not under the bra, but further down. I think maybe the tightness of the band must have pooched my skin out and it rubbed somewhere.

Anyway, if I want to wear this bra all day again, how can I ward this off? It’s never happened before, but I’ve never worn it 2 days and nights straight.

Do I put a larger bandage there? Can I rub something on my skin there, like you do for sandals? What a hassle…I love this bra.

Rub a little Vaseline on the skin before wearing the bra next time. That can help.
Also, keep your skin well moisturizer. Hydrated skin is less prone to blisters.

Try a product called Body Glide. It looks like a deoderant stick.

I cannot envision what the OP is trying to describe, but Body Glide rocks. If you have a blister, the blister bandages work better than you .can imagine.

If you don’t have access to Body Glide, a regular antiperspirant stick also reduces friction very well to prevent chafing.

Ouch! That sounds painful. I think I’d look into getting a better fitting bra in addition to the suggestions above.

Thanks all. The bra fits great, very comfortable. It’s my old skin!

Well, I disagree that it is your skin, but here is another remedy that works:

I’m not sure why one would ever wear a bra for two days and nights straight…take it off at night!

I would not wear that bra long enough to get a blister, it’s not the right bra.

I had the wrong foundation with me once when I traveled. I went pronto to a store…and bought the one I needed. I would NOT wear a strapless bra for several days.

@conmama weren’t there any stores where you were?

I assumed she meant days and evenings, not while sleeping.

I was thinking it was kind of weird, but “days and nights straight” sounds like continuously.

I didn’t wear while sleeping. Wore for 14 hours straight each day. Good strapless bras are much tighter than a regular bra to fit properly…or of course they’ll slip. I’ve been wearing this bra for awhile, and it’s really quite comfortable. The blister is about an inch long, and Is located about 1/2 inch south of the band, over on the side closer to the underarm area, I can’t figure out why, unless it slipped a little and I was adjusting it not being aware. Or as I said, the skin was pooching out a little and rubbing. The edges of the band have silicon to make it stay up better. it is just that small area, but I’m going on a trip again in 2 weeks. The blister will be healed, but I want to wear my bra a little more than usual again. I would like to be proactive about that area.

I was sort of making a joke about my skin. As we age our skin just gets looser on our body, and much less taut…pooches out when you push in all over the midriff. At least mine does.

Thumper, I had only one more day left and no time to shop. Thankfully it was very cold, so I was able to wear layers including a jacket, without a bra, and you couldn’t tell. Obviously, I’m not well endowed…haha…I actually wear a bra to give me more shape.

Marilyn Monroe wore a bra to bed because she thought it would stop her breasts from sagging. There are no facts to support her idea.

I wear a bra to bed. It is much more comfortable for my body type.

I must be missing something…younhad to travel TO this business trip location. Are you saying you wore a strapless bra while traveling?

Regardless…I would NEVER wear it again. There are many options for strapless bras that are not so tight…and won’t give you blisters. I’d be getting a new one.

Yes, I wore it. I had a cami/tank underneath my jacket that if it would get hot and I took my jacket off, the straps of my bra might show due to the location of the tank straps. I didn’t want that to happen. It is actually quite comfortable and I don’t even notice I’m wearing a strapless bra?

I would not wear any bra that gave me a blister or even a near blister. I rarely wear strapless bras–just don’t find them very comfortable, tho have never received a blister or near blister from any garment.

Here is the deal: if the bra is fitted well, the band should provide 90%+ of support, whether it has straps or not. The straps are usually there to hold the bra from sliding left to right, not down. Basically, you should not feel the presence of the straps on the shoulders. There is a reason I buy Marie Jo bras… They fit my specific “topography” well.

I have to believe the blister must have been caused by something other than your bra.

Oops, thought this would be about hiking boots. Backing out slowly …
