How to study for AP CHemistry?

Hello.
I am currently in AP Chem class. Our class use Zumdahl Chemistry (7th), and I got couple of prep books like Barrons, Schaum, and TPR. The problem is that I found just reading textbook is not helping at all. My fellow students told me that not reading textbook can be okay if I use prep book to study and textbook as reference. To those who took AP Chem, how did you read textbook like Zumdahl, Brown, etc?

If just reading textbook is not helping, do you think it is good idea to use prep books (I have many) as main source and read Zumdahl textbook as reference to study deeper adter studying prep books?

I think that it’s a good idea, but don’t forget that you have a TEACHER, whose job is to TEACH you this stuff! :)

Of ocurse, I have a teacher, but her way of teaching is that she wants us to study concepts at home and do a lot of problems and worksheets during the class…

This question may be very relevant on the Official 2012 AP Chem Thread, since it is still summer for most of us and we are still discussing preparation for our classes.
