How to study for PLTW Exams?

Hi all,

I have my Intro to Engineering exam coming up this Wednesday, an exam administered by Project Lead The Way. If I pass this exam with either a 7, 8, or 9 stanine score I will get a 100 exam grade for the class as well as AP weighting, things I need for my GPA. We took a past test for our semester exam, however it seemed a bit easy; I want to play it safe. If I am good at math, how easy will the exam be, and what would be the best way to prepare for it?

Thanks!

You don’t study for them. They’re laughably easy, trust me.

If I recall correctly, the IED exam is mostly about drawings. Of course it covers all the other material as well, but I don’t remember anything that was heavily mathematical. Don’t quote me on that though. But yeah, you really don’t need to study at all if you’re getting an A in the class. PLTW exams are very easy.

@ThatOneWeirdGuy Thanks for the reassuring response. I remember on our semester exam we had a lot of stuff about parametrics which is basically pre-algebra haha. I’m just kind of worried because a lot of my smart upperclassmen friends got 6’s on it. Anyway, you made me feel a lot better about the exam.

Honestly, IED exam is mostly about identifying dimensions from different sketches (isometric, multiviews, etc.) and holes. Basic math is needed - area and volume (I think). There is also a part where you recall vocab from the presentations. If you study the presentations, then you should do well! Finally, there is a set in quizlet with over 1,000 words about IED.

@ish512

I don’t actually remember receiving a score. We were just told whether or not we qualified for college credit. Maybe we could get lower scores and still qualify because we received credit with a different college? I don’t know. I’d only be worried if those upperclassmen were of high academic caliber. You’re on CC, so I’m going to assume you’ll be fine. :stuck_out_tongue:

@ThatOneWeirdGuy Sounds good, thanks man!

I got a 9! Only 2 other people did, too, at my school. Most of my friends got 8s, however there were a couple people I know that got 5s, 6s, and a 4. Thanks so much for you guys’ reassurance, it helped me out a lot!
