Hi, under UPenn’s website, it says that I may submit an additional recommendation from a non-teacher/non-counselor person who knows me well. On the common-app however, it only allows for teachers or counselors? How do I submit the additional recommendation?

I have asked the same question to my friends, and they all tell me that you give that extra person envelopes addressed to all the colleges you want that rec to go to. Make sure they mail it to them before the deadline. The colleges will match the recs up with your application.

Hi! You should also include on the additional supplemental recommendation/letter your common application ID number, your full name, birthdate, and name of the high school you attend. Hope that helps! =)

So would you recommend writing a cover letter from myself to put with the recommendation stating who I am, high school, etc. so that they can match the recommendation from the letter? Also, the recommendation is from a previous Wharton Alumni and I was wondering if they need any verification of this or if they’ll simply take him at his word that he is indeed a Wharton graduate?

Yes I would type out a cover letter with your pertinant information on it and your common app id number so they can match it up with your application. I’m sure they have a record of past alumna, so if he/she uses their full name and specifies what year he/she graduated they should be able to verify that information pretty easily if they so chose.
