<p>Hello! I am an international applicant and I just have no idea what “a critical analys of a book” is like? Should I focus on only one point of the book, for example, a personality of a character? or should I discuss more than one thing about the book…I mean, to comprehensively talk about the plot, the people. the writing skills…or can I only wirte about the story, saying what I think about the story, what are the connections between the story and the auther’s background…or…
I just don’t have an idea that how to write a “critical analysis of a book”…please help me! and I will help anyone back!</p>

<p>A critical analysis can really be anything. Tone, character, author’s intent, motif, themes, etc. It’s really broad. Do you do papers for school?</p>

<p>Unless you give us the application’s instructions, I’m not sure how much help we could give. Generally applications are streamlined so that everyone answers the same question but with their own different response</p>

<p>I am also an international student, and I am applying to Whitman too. As it is a replacement for a graded analytical or research paper, it would be better if we focus on certain elements and analyze them thoroughly rather than going for a comprehensive review of the book. By the way, that link was helpful :)</p>
