How to write essay for two schools in CMU?

I’m applying for SCS and CIT Electrical and Computer Engineering. The CMU essay prompt wants us to mention all the schools we are applying to in the essay. How do you go about doing this? Do I tell them why SCS would be great for me, and then say CIT would be good too? That seems counter productive and would make the essay seem shallow.

Any advice?

Last year when my son wrote his essay, he did not mention any college in specific (MSC and CIT). He wrote about how he became interested in engineering (CIT was his 1st choice), the subjects/research he wanted to focus on and what he planned to do with it in the future, and how CMU was a perfect fit for him. On his common app essay he had already mentioned about his passion for physics (MSC).

Talk about interdisciplinary research interests you have. (review the web site of faculty research or institutes that attract you to CMU)
Talk about the courses you will be taking in both areas.

Specifically -can you answer the question “why i want to study ece” and also answer “why i want to study CS” - in which case, they can be in the same essay.
