^3 interviews ? Hi, the adcom interviews are not common, right? everyone I know has only the alumni interviews. Harvard probably was seriously looking into your D for admission!

^ We figure that it could be argued either way. At the end of that year, I did start a thread to try to sort out the significance of these interviews.

Interesting points though - D’s close friend from high school was called in for a second interview and had it the same day as my daughter. He was also admitted (Harvard acceptances are exceedingly rare at our high school with only 4 in 10 years with two of those being my D and her friend). Other interesting point is that my D’s boyfriend ALSO had a second interview with the same Adcom as both D and her classmate. She learned this after they began dating.

^your D met her boyfriend at Harvard? Perhaps that Adcom was charged with the responsibility of confirming and making final decision? It does sound that way. My S2’s high school did not have any admits in the last three years, but the class before had two admits (boys). Wonder if harvard likes to admit kids in pairs, maybe not, but in so many years before and since not even a single admit. But that particular year they took two. If my S2 gets an interview by Adcom, THAT will be nice! My S has a couple of EA acceptances, so less stressful for him.

Still no interview here. What’s weird is that I submitted my Common App, supplement, and application fee all in mid-September, and even though I live in the same area of California as Clowiebear does, I haven’t been contacted yet.

Do i HAVE to have an interview? Will it hurt my chances if i don’t? Cuz I suck at interviewing…

interview tomorrow with a physician (my goal) . YES! :)

hopingdad- Yes, D met BF fall freshman year.

Threads talking about interviews from my daughter’s application year are:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-university/652256-second-interview.html

then this thread was form last year.
It points to some of the above links but adds a few others. Also, I had forgotten that I had summarized the multiple interview info from D’s year. Basically 100% of the three third interview applicants got in and almost 50% of the two interview applicants were ultimately accepted.

Lastly, though the irony of D, her friend, and BF exists, I recall contact w/ another local CCer from that year did not have that same Adcom for their on campus interview.

No, you don’t have to have an interview, and if you really do ‘suck’ at interviewing, don’t have one. A terrible interview can hurt more than not having one at all.

Did any of your EC’s ask you for the results of your college applications when they came out?

Mine did, and I’m not sure if that’s a good sign or just simply a pedestrian request.

I’m getting an interview, and I literally submitted my app hours before the deadline. They emailed me last night.

The Chicago-area interviewers are doing a big interview event on the 16th. ~30 interviewers will each meet individually with 1-4 applicants. The interviews themselves shouldn’t be any different.

Don’t read too much into your interviewer’s friendly interest in you. I’d imagine that if I was ever an interviewer, I’d want to know how the kids I talked to fared, even just out of curiosity.

Some schools, like Yale, I believe, notify the interviewers of the admissions decisions of the students they were responsible for, a few days after results are released. This is partially out of interest and partially to increase yield. Others don’t.

Interviewing this Thursday. Looking forward to it!

Just got contacted…nervous because I’ve never done an interview before ><

Meh my interview was okay. Prettt formal. He was really busy with his CT scans and MRI’s lol. But that’s expected he’s a physician

We disagreed about the merits of studying law from the very start haha! He said studying law was completely useless. Was also very pointed when asking why I was different to all the other amazing Harvard applicants. Quite intimidating, actually.

But then he said things like “Yes, you’ll find plenty of things to get involved in,” and “The food’s more multicultural now, I’m sure.” Good signs? I have no idea. At least he didn’t start to advise that I just stay in Australia to do my undergraduate degree…

you don’t have to ask for an interview do you? what if you haven’t been notified of one yet?

Just wait, they have a lot of applications to go through. If you’re domestic, most people would get one (depending on alumni availability, etc.)

But really, all you have to do is be patient :)

My interviewer’s been on TV, and she’s published a book. Now I’m getting kinda nervous, because the interviewers I’ve had before haven’t even shown up on Google.

Anyone from Ontario, Canada get an interview yet?
