How well do you think I've achieved my SAT goal over the summer?

School starts again for me in about two weeks. These were my practice SAT test scores at the beginning of August (most recent):

Math: 630
Writing: 680
Reading: 580
Total: 1890

This was test #3 (I think) from the blue, Collegeboard book. My goal was to get a 700 for Math and Writing, and 600 on the Reading (2000 total-nice, flat, even number to begin my junior year). I’ve been working hard ever since this practice test, so if I were tested again, I’d probably go up.

I wouldn’t consider this an epic failure, but it is a bit of a failure. You?

It does not matter what we think of your improvement, the only thing that matters is if you think you improved well enough for the colleges of your choice.

Yea to me the fact that you’re studying for your sat the summer before junior year is pretty amazing. I didn’t start studying for mine until like a month before I had to take it so yea I think you’re doing pretty well

Ok thanks guys
Anyone else?

I think you did great! I commend your appropriate use of “were.” :D.

I think that you’ll be looking at some really stellar scores next summer. Scores go up for every year you are in school.

Ah, thanks! But can you describe why ‘‘were’’ is correct, instead of ‘‘was’’? I used ‘‘were’’ because I thought of ‘‘If I were you, I’d…’’.

Use were when speaking of something that is either hypothetical or contrary to fact.

*If I were a lizard …
If George Washington were alive today …
If I were smart … *

I hope that helped :).

^ I would say that is (bad or negative) use of (were).

if I were tested again, I’d probably go up. … This (statment) means that you will probably not get tested again. This means you can be in college right now(thus no need for SAT) or you could be sick for a loooooonnnnnnngggggg time(thus you wont be examined again) so your grades will not be known(because you will not get examined again).

You get my point.:D:D:D

@eliza. I dont think (it is a bit of a failure), in fact I think you need to be a bit more confident. Average score=1600, Your Target=2000 which is higher by 400 points than the average score. If you want to really improve YOU NEED COMMITMENT. Imagine your life is on the line, 1 wrong move and you will end up dead, this way helped me A LOT. In fact my life is REALLY on the line.

Ok thanks. I don’t really know what you mean by ‘‘life on the line’’ thing, but I do study everyday and I am extremely motivated.

life on the line means

Somebody is pointing a gun at your face. If you dont get 2200 , BAM . Good night.

Is that a good explanation? :D:D:D

Girl it’s not a fail at all (:
I’m scoring that right now. Just study. And read advice on CC. These people give really good advice!!

Just keep trying.

Effort produces achievement!
