how well does mt1 predict final grade

the class is curved by discussion and i got probably a B/B- on the first midterm (i have issues with teh way it was graded but i doubt my score will change) . There’s only one more midterm and a final left and theyre supposed to be harder than the first midterm. Is my score on mt1 indicative of what my overall performance in teh class will be? Or is it common for people to do well in a class despite a subpar performance on mt 1?

It’s indicative of how difficult the class will be as well as how well you know the current subject. Keep in mind that each midterm tests you on different stuff, so there is a chance that you’ll do better on some than others.

Let’s be frank. Most classes get harder as the semester progresses, not easier. Most people are going to perform about the same, or worse, as the semester progresses.

However, in some cases, students just don’t know what to expect. A midterm is a wake-up call, and they are able to increase the time/efficiency of their studying and do better as the semester progresses. But frankly, that’s going to be the minority of students.
