Okay, so I’m an international applicant and around Wednesday I was told that someone called my house while I was in school regarding an interview. The person who picked up the phone did not speak english well, but she said she gave the caller my cell phone number and the caller said they would call me back. I have not received any calls yet, but I’m pretty sure it was a Columbia alumni because all my other colleges either don’t offer interviews or I’ve already had them.

In short, does the interviewer email before they call? Will they call me again, or just because I missed it the first time it’s over? I’m just nervous that the person never called me or my house again to try. I don’t know what to do!

where are you from?
well, i’m also an international student, Indonesian, and my interviewer contacted me through email notifying me about the interview. Then he gave me his mobile phone number so that i can contact him anytime. Anyway, good luck with your interview!

They do whatever they want. There’s no protocol. If they have any common sense, they’ll likely realize that someone who didn’t speak English probably didn’t get the message right and they’ll try to get ahold of you some other way. But no way to know, so be patient.

my interviewer emailed me… im also an international.

I’m in Germany and never received an email, phone call, or anything =/

that’s ok, Morty, there aren’t that many interviewers abroad, and it won’t affect your chances.

I’m from Singapore and I got an email from my interviewer. He said that not all the applicants got interviewed, since it was about a 1:10 ratio.

I’m in Hong Kong, got e-mailed by my interviewer.
