How will a zero on my transcript affect getting into college?

Earlier this year I became extremely ill and had to make the switch to cyber school. I started right before the end of the quarter and so I was extremely behind. Ive been trying to play catch up for the past 7 months but its very difficult and i had to take some horrific grades. We decided that I would pay for a credit recovery course this summer but because I still have my Part 4 to do my school said that they wouldnt pay for it and save the money. That will leave a zero on my transcript… The other option would be for me to finish my Part 3 and start Part 4. I do not know that I will be able to finish all of my courses if I do that… I just want to make sure that I will still be able to get into Shippensburg if I do take the zero. I tested higher that most other Juniors in my PSAT’s (Im a sophmore) with out studying at all.

What I would honestly do is explain this in your college essay, explain your situation and then I think you should be fine. If you would prefer to not have to finish Part 3 and start Part 4 because you don’t think you would finish, then I wouldn’t do it, but if you think that if you work really hard you could do it, I would do it.

Take your PSAT score, add a zero to the end, and give or take a 100 points and that is around what you will get on your SAT when your take it. If that is strong, then it could definitely help you.

Personally what i would do is try my hardest to not have to take the zero, but I think with the zero and an explanation why you got it, you should be fine.

You could look at Keystone, Chestnut Hill, Penn State Dubois, and a couple others if you are worried, however I think you should be alright at Shippensburg even with the zero because of your circumstances.
