I’m honestly so confused about how GE works at Fullerton or at any CSU. Im planning on attending LCAD but my back up school is CSUF. My friend who is a junior at SDSU said GE could potentially disrupt my plans for the future if im planning on having an artistic career after college. I understand that all schools have some sort of education requirement, even art schools but art schools typically make your education requirements revolve around your major. BFAs are also 75% studio classes and 25% liberal arts courses. So how will GE affect completing the BFA illustration program? The min credit requirement is 132 for the program and GE is 48. Will my educational classes revolve around my major? Or will I have to take standard educational classes? Any help is a blessing
graduating from a CSU means something. Future employers expect something from college grads. You need to be able to do some math, read/write, understand history, etc. no matter what your major is. Some GE courses align with your major while others won’t. That’s what they call a well rounded education - and will provide you with a more mature perspective on the world. (and most college student change their major at least once, often times due to being exposed to a GE class). There are lots of options for each requirement but, you are going to have to meet the campus’ graduation requirements to earn the degree - some you will hate, some you will love, one might change your life. Will they ruin or make your college experience? That’s up to you.
