How will the newly proposed seniors option for mixed gender housing affect the residential college system? We thought that with the residential colleges, that this was assigned for the 4 yrs at Yale. Can someone please share more details and what this means…didn’t realize there was housing outside of the res.col.
Thanks

This relates to the fact that as juniors, when they vie for senior housing, they can submit mixed gender groupings – which previously wasn’t done. This is all within their own residential colleges. Previously, groups would vie for the space in the college but no mixed genders were allowed. It doesn’t do anything to alter the base RC of the individuals.

I hope no dating couples take this option: what a disaster that can be…

Some residential colleges had mixed-gender suites 30 years ago. There were people in my class in Calhoun who had a 7- or 8-person mixed-gender suite.

OK Got it.
Didn’t know if that meant other living arrangements/apartments separate from the whole r.c. thing…saw the item in the school newspaper online
