So in early November I applied to Centrak Michigan University… I hadn’t heard from them so I called them today and they told me they’re waiting for this semesters grades to come in. This semester was horrible. I had a World Cultures, Intermediate Alepgebra and a Physics. I had to drop my physics because the whole class was flunking, and I have a 66% in my Algebra. Fortunately I have an A in my other class, but I know this does not look good for my application. Here’s the thing. I’m not dumb. This semester was horrible as I had to work two jobs, fight some developing health conditions and we also had a death in our family. My grades have never been this bad. What do I do? Do you think it’ll prevent CMU from accepting me?
Are you in high school or in college?
Are you applying as a freshman or as a transfer?
When do you want to start at CMU?
I’m a freshman at my community college… I’ll be a transfer
Hopeful to start in the fall of 18
They will need to see your fall transcript in order to decide about your application. The responses can be admit, deny, or defer. In any case, even if you would be accepted for the fall, it is only provisional and depends on your final transcript for classes taken in the spring. If you would be denied for fall 2018 based on this fall’s grades, you can reapply for a different semester once you get your grades back up again. Since you are a freshman now, you still have time!
You should go have a chat with the Transfer Advisor at your CC and talk through your situation. That person’s whole job is to help students get into 4-year institutions that are good for them.
