how will this affect my chances?

so…during the first quarter of this year, i got two C+'s in classes. but i still applied to yale EA.

i sent a letter explaining why i got the C+'s (i was homeless for two years, from fall of soph year to fall of senior year, after i had a falling out with my parents. this fall, i moved back into my parents house. but of course, i recognized why i had moved out in the first place…and there were a lot of problems in the household.)

is that going to really affect my chances of admission?

Hey  Of course, C+s don’t look good to elite colleges. However, if you’ve got a truly valid reason for getting those C+s (despite trying your very best) and have an otherwise stellar record and maybe a couple of hooks, then Yale might accept you. I hope your counsellor explained your situation in his or her evaluation. Yale admissions are incredibly hard to predict, but Yale does craft a diverse, able and mature class. If you overcame your difficulties and managed to show your resilience and maturity through your essays and interview, then Yale might even look favourably upon you. Best of luck!
