How would a 480 CR look on a MIT or Stanford application?

I’m going to take the ACT and probably do better on the reading part and earn a better composite as well. On more thing, I’ll be in the international pool. Are my chances completely gone?

I hate to say it, but unless you have won international math/science awards I doubt you will be admitted with a 480 CR.

Work HARD on that ACT

one score on one subsection for the sat for an international student wont kill you.

a 480 would ruin your chances…

it won’t kill, but it would injure quite a bit. Some guy got in MIT with like a 4x0,5x0,4x0 a few years back, I think

Don’t listen to supereagle10, a 480 will KILL your application for Stanford. Even for MIT, 480 is death. Unless you show serious improvement like 700+ for stanford and 600+ for MIT and serious Math/Science prowess, you got no chance.

I have to agree. I looked through the OP’s old posts and he seems to have lived in America for a number of years. So, lack of English exposure is definitely not the problem here. The OP doesn’t seem particularly outstanding, has terrible CR, and is international. And needs FA? Uhm…

One section on the SAT won’t kill you, but that’s like if you got a 650 or something.
Work HARD man
