I go to an international private school where there are no regular classes except for elective and every core subject you must have to take honors. So when people enter freshman year, they are bound to take 4 honors. You only receive honors credit if you score above 73% and below you will only get regular credit. How would college view this?

How? with logic, of course. They would analyze your school’s grading policies and try to determine you within your context and what would be your equivalence among more “typical” transcripts.

@T26E4 could explain about this more "typical " transcript? Thank You

Not all colleges will “analyze.” More likely, they will take a quick glance, look at your grades and the rest of your profile, and make some sort of judgement. Higher tier schools receive too many applications from too many different schools to have time to analyze each school, research the typical transcript, and rate you against a typical transcript.

Usually when admissions officers say they will compare you to your school’s background, they mean the type of courses available. They don’t have the time to analyze each school’s grading system.

If you’re scared that colleges will judge you differently because of your school’s system, perhaps you would consider taking AP tests, if possible. Or maybe even SAT II’s?

Good Luck!
