How would I go about getting into NYU Tisch?

I’m 21 years old and I live in Texas. I inherited some money so that’s taken care of. All my life I’ve wanted to make films but I lack guidance. I’ve been looking into colleges and I want to go to Tisch. I’m not looking for y’all to do my research for me but I would love so help figuring out what route to take here. College was never an option for me financially. Now it is. Let’s go.

Here’s the situation, I was homeschooled all the way up to highschool. Then I was put in online school. I didn’t care about grades, there was no way I was going to college with the money accessable at the time. I graduated with a 2.8 GPA from PennFoster online. Please no jokes, I’m no moron I just had no way of getting into a college so put in no effort. I’ve never taken a SAT but I will if that’s what’s needed.
I just need to know what y’all think the best course of action would be for me. I want this more than anything, this is my dream, to make films. To tell my stories, I have a long road to travel but I will go the distance. I sincerely appreciate any and all help y’all can give me, even if you think I would do better at a different college, I might not have considered it yet.

Well, it’s a very competitive school so as you can imagine, competition is tough. A 2.8 GPA will be a hard sell, but you also need to submit a creative portfolio. The information for that is here http://tisch.nyu.edu/film-tv/admissions_film_tv_portfolio Other information about the application process can be found online but I’d also look into schools less competitive than NYU.
