how would I go about with contacting a faculty member?

I’m planning to apply EDII and I want to major in foreign languages (of course, this isn’t set in stone). How would I go about with contacting a faculty member? I know the faculty members are posted on the website according to the majors. Would it be too late to contact them? The deadline is Jan. 1. Would contacting them make me seem… like I’m desperate, or put me in a negative light in any way?

What should I say to them in the email? “I have a talent for learning languages and I was wondering if you could put in a good word for me in admissions” (not exactly like that)?

I plan to contact someone from the College of Letters. Would that be all right? because that major is what I’m sort of going towards, and it has something to do with languages.

or Romance Studies. (yeah that would be better.)

Okay thanks!

The faculty thing is only useful, it seems, if you actually have a conversation with a professor. Randomly emailing won’t do you much good unless you have a real question about the department that Admissions can’t answer.

But, if that’s the case, you can email the chair of COL or something, indicating a) your question b) that you are very interested in COL as it’s a unique program that Wesleyan offers, blah blah blah c) that you are applying EDII and really hope to be accepted d) you are grateful for their time and support!

k thanks :)
