how would this work?

I’m asking on behalf of an international student who has the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in psychology in her native country. She would like to study at one of the Ivies a completeley unrelated field. Could she do that as an undergraduate? The Yale and Princeton websites imply she can’t, I just want to confirm that would be the case when starting a completely different major.

Yale
If you have received a bachelor’s degree (or the equivalent) or if by the end of the current academic year you will have completed more than two full years toward the degree, you are not eligible to transfer to Yale, nor may you apply through the freshman admission process. (You may not voluntarily relinquish credits in order to qualify for consideration.)

Princeton:
If you have already started a college or university degree program elsewhere, you are not eligible to apply for admission to Princeton.

(crossposted in parents forum)

At the ones you’ve mentioned though, your quotes there are correct, she would not be eligible to apply. She could apply for postgraduate studies, but not as an undergraduate.

Some colleges do allow it but they don’t tend to offer funding for a 2nd degree for internationals so she wouldn’t qualify for any financial aid.
