Narrowed down to UCSanDiego, UCBerkeley, and Cornell. Waitlisted at Dartmouth
Seeking molecular bio/bioenginbering for future as MD/PhD researcher. Cal resident. Any advice?
See that UCSD ranked very high (over the others) in molec bio specifically, but social life there is reputably “socially dead.” Want her to have a balance. UCB dorms not on campus, ?fragmented experience? Cornell is more $$ and remote travel issues…but ?worth the Ivy status?
Thanks in advance guys.
I depends on what you want. Yeah UCSD does not have the greatest social life but it’s not completely dead either. There are clubs and greek life on campus. I would look at a place where you would have opportunities to do research. I know Cornell has plenty but I’m not so sure about UCSD although I’m sure you can do it. Cornell is very social but at the same time it’s sort of an island in a sea of rural CNY and not everyone likes that. Even though UCB is an excellent school I’m not sure if everyone is cut out for the ultra competitive atmosphere especially if you are going to be taking classes with pre-meds. Some of those kids are nuts.
Have you had a chance to visit those school? Good luck!
