How would you approach this level 5 math problem?

<p>The answer is E. I did get the correct answer, but I wouldn’t have been able to solve this without my Pre-Calculus class I took my sophomore year.
Is there an easier solution that I’m not getting?</p>

<p>The pre-calculus/Algebra II solution is the best way.</p>

<p>Just realize that g(x) is the same curve as f(x), only shifted 3 to the right and 2 down. </p>

<p>Therefore, h = -3 and k = -2. </p>

<p>-3 * -2 = 6. The answer is E.</p>

<p>You gotta know how graphs shift. Since it shifted right 3 you should know h =-3. Then it moved down 2 so k= -2. Once you understand graph shifts problems like this will only take a minute to solve.</p>

<p>This is exactly how I solved it, but I only learned the shift of graph in Pre-Calculus. I was just confused because I thought SAT Math was only supposed to test up to Algebra. I guess my Algebra class really sucked because I didn’t learn this in Algebra class.</p>

<p>From point (-1,3) to point (2,1) The point underwent a translation from left to right by 3 unites(2-(-1)) and move downward by 2 units. In other words, the h is -3 and k is -2</p>
