Im thinking about applying to these schools:

Rutgers: NB/Piscataway
Johnson & Wales RI
Johnson & Wales Miami
Pace University
Montclair State
Kean University
William Paterson
Post University
Centenary College
Indiana U. of Penn
Georgian Court U.
Robert Morris U.

My sons attend Robert Morris parttime as high school students and have since they were 16. Robert Morris is like a large high school, on a very hilly campus with very very ugly dorms. Academically, the courses are, at least at the lower levels, completely non-challenging. They have terrific sports programs though. There is no pool on campus. Lots of smoking and heavy drinking scene.

Indiana U of Pa has a fencing club! It is the largest of the PA state U’s w/ a student body of about 15K, I think. I would rate it similar to Robert Morris in academics and below RMU in athletics. The campus is about 1-1/2 hours from Pittsburgh in the tomato and Christmas Tree Capital of the US. If you aren’t a PA resident - no reason to go here.

Pace (Pleasantville) is located in a very nice area with easy access to the city of White Plains NY (about 10 mins away). The area is very safe. There is a train station in town about a mile or so from campus which goes into the city. The town is small but there are some shops and restaurants nearby. I think that some of the dorms are of the townhouse variety.

Hey, looks like no one’s been in this thread for a while, but my dad is the provost of Georgian Court so I know some stuff about it. It’s an alright school, very diverse. Also, the grounds are beautiful. Most people go there to become school teachers. I’ve taken a couple classes there, both drawing courses, and I had a great time. It’s in Lakewood, NJ, which is sort of a bizarre place. About 3/4 of the people who live there (not sure if that’s an accurate statistic, but it seems that way to me) are hasidic jews. They go all out, the men where beaver hats and mutton chops, and very distinctive suits and the women wear conservative, long black skirts and collared shirts. The remainder of the population appears to be Mexican. It’s a very unique place to live, but unfortunately, the town itself is sort of rundown. But, upside is it’s like 10 miles away from the beach! And there’s so much to do in the surrounding towns. Oh, and it’s like an hour and a half away from NY and Philly. As you can see, I know more about the area than the school itself, but I hope I helped a little.
