Hi, I am a senior trying to make my decision for college. I was accepted to the engineering schools at NCSU and Howard and a few others. I have NC State as my number one right now. I was all set to go there to study chemical engineering. However, I got into Howard over the weekend…and now I’m stuck because I do not know much about Howard’s engineering program. I know that the school is ranked higher overall. But I’m not going to a school for ranking. So if anyone could give some advice towards helping me decide I’d greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

NC State…

Howard is not well known for STEM majors.

I didn’t realize Howard had engineering, and apparently others aren’t aware either. According to CollegeBoard.com, the top 7 Bachelor’s degree majors at Howard are:

Health Professions: 22%
Business/Marketing: 18%
Communications/Journalism: 16%
Biology: 7%
Psychology: 6%
Social Sciences: 6%
Visual and Performing Arts: 5%

Also, have you visited the NCSU campus? You MUST visit Centennial Campus if you do.

I would urge you to go to the school that pours more of it’s resources and reputation into it’s engineering programs…NCSU.
